Over the course of the last week, you'll have likely noticed the buzz and excitement that's been building all around Metro Manila -- if you've been around awhile, you know what time of the year it is. If you're new: well, this is an experience you're sure to enjoy.

The festive mood surrounding Philippine Independence Day is hard to miss. Wander around the metropolis and you'll note that the streets are filled with tourists and locals; turn one corner and you'll see parades, turn another and you may be treated to performances set up on strategically placed stages.

As for Falner, the colors of the Philippine flag seem to be everywhere you look: the kids who live or study at the estate are mostly running around with their faces painted. If you wander down towards the Fair Grounds in the South District, there are a couple of booths set up offering anything from body paint and temporary tattoos to local delicacies. West District establishments The King's Rest and Liquidated also have special treats aligned with the theme of the day. There's also talk about the annual street party which will be held over at the Baywalk later this evening, and the younger initiates are abuzz over the yearly light show held over Manila Bay that showcase reenactments of all the major battles all the way up to the Darkest Vigil.

Independence Day is also not all that's being celebrated, because for Keepers of the Vigil and supernatural communities all over the world, today marks the second anniversary of Arcis Fortress City.

[ It'll be only take five minutes, Lyall. Soon enough Ella returns with a cold lemonade.

And orange juice.

And some hot steaming tea. She couldn't pick, so she lines them in front of the girl. ]

They smell wonderful, and I think it's not just my enhanced senses kicking in. And don't worry about the money; even if I were to run out, Barbara gave me a credit card. I'm not touching it, though.

[ Her sire might actually wonder why she didn't touch it. ]

[ Forgive her, Ella, if the kid looks a little overwhelmed. Her thought process right now is nicely summed up in: "The gold-haired lady is very nice."

Now... which to... pick. Or does she drink all of them? .___. UM. ]

[ She should smile. So she does, shyly.

Oh, you don't need to pick just one. You can drink a bit of each and pick whichever you like the most. Or all of them, too.

[ And she'll sip her own glass because she's not a creep who stares at little girls. ]

[ She looks down at the drinks and attempts to decide which she should start with. It seems, after all, impolite to not have them all after the pretty lady went to all the trouble of getting them.

She's reaching for the orange juice, because the color reminds her of dawn. It is also something of a favorite, since this is what her King's beloved offers her sometimes when they sit down for the morning meal. ]

[ Ella will keep on sipping her blood and try to be as inconspicuous as she can. She supposed the little girl's guardians are around, so getting her to stay put will probably ease the process of them finding her.

Eventually, Ella will decide to speak again though. ]

[ She's halfway down the glass when she hears the lady speak.

Swallowing now and quietly wiping the wetness from her upper lip with the back of her hand. ]
