[closed] what's quiet in the voices

WHO: Hikaru Shinta, Joshua LaRue & Lyall
WHAT: Sunday Conversations
WHERE: The Brennan Residence
WHEN: 13 June 2066
SAFE FOR WORK? Mostly.
OTHER NOTES: This is a log that's comprised of several conversations for the day.

[ She's watching a movie ( her King's beloved called it that ) on her Vice tablet before she's called for the morning meal. She likes it and she wants to watch it again, though mostly because of the snow creature named Olaf ( who she was really worried about, by the way, because he's made of snow but he really, really wanted to experience summer and she wasn't sure at first how that was going to work. )

It's nice, sitting at the small table near the kitchen. The place settings are simple: stoneware plates and silverware that she was told is stainless steel. She gets a pretty mug of her own that her King's beloved fills with either milk or orange juice ( or both, she likes this thing called "milkshakes", and of that she likes the pink one best ) and a chair of her own to sit in.

It makes her think of some of the "shows" she's seen on the television set. Of this idea of "family". But that makes her uncomfortable so she doesn't ask her King about that.

There are only three of them now, in the house -- unless you count Leo, who is sometimes not there, and Mitsuru, the little fat cat who she loves because he keeps her company when she makes herself scarce. She doesn't need to be told that Sunday is the day her King and his beloved take for themselves. Normally ( and she's watched them move around each other in the months since she arrived in Falner ) they would be busy seeing to the needs of everyone else.

But Sundays are sacred, almost. The only things they leave the house for on Sundays are "mass" at the cathedral in the woods where the Seer's brother and Father Badd and Father Paolo and Father Kaz spend their time. But those Sundays are for when her King steps up to the pulpit to talk about stories, and his beloved sits with her in one of the pews, and offers to hold her hand in certain parts of the "service".

Today though, there is nothing like that planned. At least, except for her interview with the Kaiser.

Lyall's carefully cutting her meal as she sneaks quiet looks at the two older men. Mitsuru is napping by her feet. Leo is dozing out in the den. Her King looks... happy. But then she has come to learn that Joshua LaRue, a man with kind eyes and even kinder hands, makes him happy. Her King moves around him differently than he does with everyone else. And even if she had not trusted his beloved at first ( she has seen the shadow of what it might be like if he was angered, it was one time when he was on the phone and his lips -- which are usually quick to smile -- were in a hard, thin line, ) it is hard not to trust him now. This is their home, and she has been allowed to live in it with them, share their meals and have a bed of her own in a room that she has clothes and shoes and things that a child is allowed to own for herself.

She wants to do this for them, the thing she has given much thought over. Especially since she is now sure that it was Joshua LaRue who had seen her home.

They deserve a day to themselves. People who look the way they do at each other do.

She sets her utensils down and folds her hands on her lap. Under the table, she rubs Mitsuru's back gently with her bare foot. ]

M... My King...?
