+ Anyone who wasn't pinged for the mandatory interviews in Dove's post can drop in on the pretense that they're speaking to Lia in between interviews.
+ Please include the time that you drop by in the subject line of your comment.
+ Each interviewee will actually be observed by another NPC in the office. The NPC will be different per character, but they will always be another Malice King. Pammu will integrate their reactions into Lia's responses - unless, of course, the NPC in question is played by one of the other mods.
+ Anyone who actually comes in after midnight will still respond to this post, just to make sure that all of the interviews are in one place.


[ There is always a line outside of the office no matter what time it is; there are a lot of newcomers to Falner this month, and every new person who's been allowed to stay on the estate since January is required to speak to the Kaiser today.

Once you get inside, regardless of when you come in for your interview, you're going to find Liandrin in gradients of this position: at her desk, barreling through more paperwork for Netsach, the Pleiades or any of the other organizations that she belongs to. Sometimes she has something to nibble on. She also always has tea or - for the evening interviews - wine.

Aidan Clayce's desk and Riley Falner's desks are unoccupied. Beyond the observer that she has invited for your interview, this exchange is meant to be confidential. ]

Falner IS rather different from... well, everywhere else. We are yet to fully understand why, but I suppose it is not too important.

[ Anyway. ]

So you have not encountered any difficulties, or found yourself with any pressing concerns...?

[ Ever since the Fukuzawa handled the legal work, Rin's been getting a modest allowance and free run of the Estate. ]

Have you figured out your reasons behind why you want this?

[ She and Hikaru have had a few words about you, since your arrival.

...Speaking of the Blade King, where in the Fifth World is he? As she's talking to you, Lia is now reaching out through the wolf's crest that hangs around her neck, buried beneath her clothes.

Uh.

[ Oh no It's Happening Again. ]

It's...complicated, I guess? On the one hand, I like challenges and this is perhaps the most challenging thing someone has ever proposed to me...and I do want to do good, not just as thanks for, you know, having me here, but because I've never really felt like I am doing anything significant for others.

[ She takes a little breath. ]

On the other hand...I guess I'm kinda hoping to find a more personal reason for being here and being a Keeper of the Vigil once I'm inside. Some sort of 'the trip is as important as the destination" thing, I guess.

[ And she lets out a large breath. Words. ]

[ She actually gives herself an hour after waking up, mostly to make sure she's fully awake and ready. You bet she has made a ridiculous amount of notes regarding this interview.

But she can't stall any longer, so Ella heads to Liandrin's office and finds there is no line. Of course, most of the students didn't need to sleep through half of the day after all.

Left with no excuses to further wait, Ella knocks on the door and peeks in. ]

Hello?

[ Well, that sounded much better. She's heard things. Falner is also kind of really her home, and Mastigos Mage like herself makes it a point to Know Everything As Much As Possible in whatever space they consider to be theirs.

In the meantime, while Sophie is talking to her:

"Sorry, Lia. I don't think I'll be coming in."

Oh?

"I have a feeling that if I show up, you won't get completely honest answers from her. Don't worry: I'm listening in."

Very well. ]

That sounds fair, although you might want to review your conspiracy of choice. If not, then exert a little more effort to get to know Zangyaku. We move very differently from the rest of the Vigil.

[ Yep. She said "we". ]

[ She's having coffee right now, and browsing through your dossier. ]

[ And at the other table in the office you'll note that Riley is quietly seated back against his chair, fingers folded in a steeple on his desk and a warm smile ready for when you glance his way.

No words yet. He'll chime in when he deems it necessary. ]

[The line hadn't been too long when he arrived, so he only had to wait a bit before finding himself in front of the door. Knocking lightly on it, he then stepped inside, gaze turning towards the Kaiser as he nodded respectfully at her.]

Good afternoon, ma'am.

[From where he was perched on his shoulder, Temo gave a polite nod of his own.]

Good afternoon, Gray.

[ She appears to be alone for the moment. She has her dossier in front of you. ]

It's been a long time. [ A slight smile at that. The last time was when you formally made arrangements to study at Balamb in the hopes of becoming an operative of Netsach. ] Congratulations on your initiation.

11:10 AM

[lyall]

[ This one's coming by all on her own. There aren't that may people around when she gets there, just a handful few who are waiting around talking among themselves. She walks up to the door, glances around if anyone else is planning to head in, but no one seems to be planning to so she'll knock politely on the door.

There's a moment of worry though after she does that.

What if the Kaiser is still speaking with someone? ]

Come inside, Lyall.

[ ...Saying that, of course, after sending a telegraphic look towards Alistair Mordechai. The Seer opted to perch on the sill of the window behind her, and to her right. He's smoking through another cigarette.

She doesn't seem to mind; she'll go back to studying your dossier, and recent accounts on how you are doing from others (Hikaru's included). Alistair, in the meantime, will nod once your direction once you're there. You and him, you have an Understanding built in many a silent conversation on the walls of the Estate. ]

[ She steps in awkwardly, startled as she is to find The Seer present for this. She's hoping that it's not writing itself out on her face, how she's wondering if this is normal. She was under the impression that the meeting would only be between the Kaiser and herself... but The Seer is also one of the Kings. And he is a good man who was her King's lover once upon a time.

She'll stand in front of your desk now, ma'am, dressed up nice in her school uniform and the beautiful blue coat with Netsach's insignia. It felt like the proper thing to wear. ]

[He's smiling faintly as he's approaching your desk, at the same time remembering that interview years ago.]

Thank you, ma'am.

[As he stops in front of the desk, his gaze briefly falls on his dossier, before its drawn to the phone placed beside it. The empty chair set near the desk (on the same side as the phone) catches his attention next. That makes his smile fade a bit as he glanced questioningly at the Kaiser.

He won't ask right away, but he was wondering, now, how this meeting was going to go down.]

[ Noticing that, and smiling with a look of approval. ]

You look like a student of our own already. Why don't you have a seat?

[takeitinstride]

[ Lia only blinks serenely back like nothing is amiss, and then starts leafing through your file. ]

How is your blade? They are all scheduled to see me, but I believe that they will be coming in later.

[lyall]

[ There's a moment where she's actually absorbing what the Kaiser has just told her.

And then she ducks her head in an awkward nod and sits herself down in the nearby chair. She is not sure what it is that the Kaiser needs to speak to her about, but since she is attending Balamb ( her King thought it would be good, and she does not wish to question his wisdom if this is something that will pleas him ) she thinks it is possibly about that.

Her gaze strays briefly to the Seer, and she offers him a small, shy smile. ]

[ He'll smile a little in return from just around his cigarette. In the meantime... ]

School starts tomorrow. I trust that you are prepared?

[Were one perceptive enough, one can tell from the sound of footfalls if a person is walking toward something she perceives to be dangerous, but against which danger she has steeled herself in her heart.

That's how Ela's walk up to your office sounds, and that is how her knock sounds, and that is how her voice sounds, when she says:]

It's Elanora Marasigan, Kaiser. May I come in?

Of course.

[ And when you enter, she's reading your file while Lorenzo Reyes pours another cup of tea for her. The Acamoth swings his head sleepily in your direction, blinks, yawns, then lopes over to the couch where it looks like he's going to flop down and maybe fall asleep. ]

You need to speak to me about something.

[ She has heard from Elias, but she wants to hear the news and whatnot from you. ]

[Aosoth, Number 444 of the Thrones, has never felt this cornered her whole life. And she was hunted down by the Hounds, Hikaru Shinta, and Elias Tagabigay.

This place is safe, but it is Not Safe.

That would account for most of her trepidation.]

I- I know I probably should have said something about it earlier, but if... if you are okay with it, I would like to take classes in Balamb. Hopefully that doesn't cause too much trouble...

[ It does not look like she's making arrangements. It looks like she is sipping her tea, and then going for her cigarettes.

Trust in the Mastigos, though, okay? ]

Which program do you wish to participate in?

[Ey, she a mage. You say you doing something, you probably doing something. She gets that.

Brow furrowed a bit in thought, she considers your question several times before she speaks.]

I would like to be in Accelerated Special Cases, if that's okay. I mean...

[She makes a tiny little throat-clearing sound, as if the next statement is uncomfortable.]

I am a good student of violence, but I am no student of the Vigil. There is only so much I can learn from books and the various network resources my brother is kind enough to leave logged in for me.

[Except she actually means it? Probably a breach of clearance protocols, but she's pretty sure these ones are extremely shallow. For how earnest he was when they were kids, her brother keeps so many secrets now. It's almost sad. But everyone's entitled to their hidden things.

Besides, she wants to earn those clearance levels.]

[ Listening at first as she goes through her cigarette, and then nodding at the end of it. ]

very well. I'll clear you for ASC, and inform the Headmistress. You'll receive your class list tomorrow.

[ Hmm. ]

Technically speaking, you have already been licensed with the Thrones. Do you plan on using your credentials from ASC to secure other licenses?

[deadline]

I... honestly hadn't thought of it that way. I just didn't want to be licensed to do something I do not fully understand, that's all.

[What she isn't saying is what is plainly blaring in her head, though: she wants to be worth the Hunting License. The hunted becoming the hunter. It's about making amends, to her.]
