+ Anyone who wasn't pinged for the mandatory interviews in Dove's post can drop in on the pretense that they're speaking to Lia in between interviews.
+ Please include the time that you drop by in the subject line of your comment.
+ Each interviewee will actually be observed by another NPC in the office. The NPC will be different per character, but they will always be another Malice King. Pammu will integrate their reactions into Lia's responses - unless, of course, the NPC in question is played by one of the other mods.
+ Anyone who actually comes in after midnight will still respond to this post, just to make sure that all of the interviews are in one place.


[ There is always a line outside of the office no matter what time it is; there are a lot of newcomers to Falner this month, and every new person who's been allowed to stay on the estate since January is required to speak to the Kaiser today.

Once you get inside, regardless of when you come in for your interview, you're going to find Liandrin in gradients of this position: at her desk, barreling through more paperwork for Netsach, the Pleiades or any of the other organizations that she belongs to. Sometimes she has something to nibble on. She also always has tea or - for the evening interviews - wine.

Aidan Clayce's desk and Riley Falner's desks are unoccupied. Beyond the observer that she has invited for your interview, this exchange is meant to be confidential. ]

[ Segan heads right over after breakfast. She does smile and exchange pleasantries with a few of the people who are lined up before her turn comes around.

Knocking once, then entering the room. The moment she spots Liandrin Delacroix at her desk, she walks right over, stops at a good distance in front of it, and dips her head in respect. ]

Good morning, Kaiser Delacroix.

[ Liandrin, in turn, has already put her things aside. She's bringing out a dossier now - one with Segan's name on it - and setting it on the side of the table closest to her companion of the moment.

"Good morning, Miss Brooke. You and I won't be alone for this interview today."

...Huh. ]

[ Rilea Heartnet-Duskrider is standing by one of the windows, hands folded over her chest as she peers out at the children on the lawn. This particular one has a lovely view of where Aidan's tail is currently the beginnings of the "mountain" that the children are imagining themselves scaling. ]

Good morning, [ that's what she says as she smiles pleasantly your way. ] Why don't you have a seat, Segan.

[interceptive]

[ Liandrin, unbeknownst to Segan, is quietly establishing the telepathic link that she and Rilea always share now. That is how they have always worked, especially in matters like this.

You can do the talking for now, Rilea. ]

Good morning, Kaiser Heartnet-Duskrider!

[ With a respectful dip of her head and a swift smile to hopefully disguise her nervousness (wow Rilea Heartnet she kind of made the American Vigil???), she's doing as she's told. How is this going to go... ]

[ What Lia will sense through the link then, is Rilea's fond amusement. She leaves the run of Netsach and the concerns regarding Big Rock's status ( do they even have one, after that ridiculous fiasco now, probably not ) to Lia, Segan Brooke's well-being as an individual is her priority for the moment.

She'll take the seat by Lia's desk now, recline into her chair and offer a smile.

By the way, Segan, that warm mug that is suddenly by your arm is your favorite drink. She did her research. ]

[ Just... blinking at it before reaching for it.

Wow. Um. She is kind of not used to authority figures that are nice anymore? ]

[ Saying that softly, and with a tiny smile before she's taking a drink.

"How are you settling in, Miss Brooke?" ]

Oh, I think I've acclimatized myself to the Estate pretty well, ma'am. Thank you, again, for giving me this opportunity to join the ASC at Balamb.

[ She means that. All of this still feels like a miracle to her. ]

We're happy to have you, Segan. [ She's reaching for her copy of your file now and flipping it open to the page that had caught her attention the most. It is standard procedure that every student with aspirations to become a Keeper of the Vigil is asked yearly which compacts or conspiracies they hope to pursue.

Yours, Miss Brooke, interests her because of your responses for your third and what should have been your final year at Big Rock.

Tilting her head now and sending you a warm smile. ] How did you find the celebrations yesterday? Were you able to go around?

[interceptive]

[ Nods, her face immediately lighting up. ]

Yeah, but I stuck close to the Estate. There was already a lot of things to do here, and I kind of wanted to be ready for tomorrow.

[ She figures that there will be other opportunities, whereas she's only got one shot at ASC. ]

[ Nodding at that and offering another smile as she leans back into her seat. ]

That's good. Both that you're preparing and that you were able to move around.

[ A beat. ] Speaking of classes, have you decided on which units you'll be completing for the next six months.

[ It's not lost on her, the way the system failed you and possibly so many more in your batch. But she will leave Liandrin to handle the administrative end. ]

[interceptive]

I have, actually.

[ Smile turning a little soft now. ]

I'm happy that Headmaster Santos approved of the requests I had with regard to my schedule for ASC. I mean, I was perfectly fine with Balamb deciding everything, but they did tell me I could give suggestions, so...

You've already met the requirements for a hunter poised for graduation. [ Saying that both gently and factually, because it is true. You should have marched with your peers well before this conversation. ]

What we'd like to do for you now is to help you get back on track for your dream.

[ She's kind of really excited at the thought of that? Yes, she acknowledges that ASC isn't going to be easy. Somehow, though, that just makes her even MORE excited. ]

Um... I'd like to ask, though, if there are other things that I'll need to do?

[ Surely there were other arrangements that needed to be made? She wasn't sure how things were done in Falner. ]

[ You're set up at Balamb and you surely have a room at the dorms. Your schedule outlines the number of patrol hours due you--

--Oh, yes. ]

Have you picked a mentor yet? [ She doesn't glance at Lia, but she does pull on the link between them. Your take on the girl? ]

[ Liandrin, of course, hasn't glanced over at Rilea either. She seems content with watching the proceedings, listening in.

My take is that she is ideal material by which we can form a solid Keeper of the Vigil out of. She practically is one, in fact. ]

Oh, I haven't been able to think about that just yet. [ Riiiight. Mentors are a thing. Nobody took her on at Big Rock after sophomore year. ] Do you have any suggestions for me, ma'am?

[ There's that silent hum of assent from Rilea's end of that mental link. ]

We have a number of Technomancers stationed here at Falner. [ A smile. ] I saw in your record that the conspiracy you hope to take on is Taskforce Valkyrie?

[interceptive]

[ Now you're going to see how her entire face lights up, and how she straights up a little more in her seat. ]

Yes, ma'am. It's the conspiracy that I've always wanted to work for first.

[ "First", because she has a Plan. ]

[ There's a pleased smile on her face as she leans back into her chair and nods. ]

Are you taking Combat & Strategy as one of your classes?

[ Because Angela Brennan is the faculty in charge of that one. ]

[interceptive]

[ Blinking at that. ]

Yes, ma'am, I am.

[ And then things are starting to quietly click in her head. It'll show on her face, even if she doesn't say anything.

She's heard of Commander Brennan. Who in their right mind hasn't around these parts? ]

Commander Brennan is one viable option for you, as is her daughter Cindy. There are others, of course, but given your interest in TFV, those two are your best bet.

[ You strike her as a rather resourceful child, so she won't spoon-feed you information you may possibly wish to look up all on your own.

Between the two Technomancers though, she has a feeling you'll fare better under the mother rather than the daughter. Cindy, after all, is still young and currently establishing her own "street cred", to borrow the term from Calintz, within the Vigil. ]
